I haven’t wanted to post an update because I keep starting little parts and taking breaks on them by starting other little parts, so everything feels very unfinished to me right now. The accessories are proving very, very tedious to create. It’s pretty brainless modeling, so I watch movies and stuff while I’m doing it. I think the work I’m putting into these pieces is finally beginning to show.
Sigh. I have a ways to go, but I would like to move on to something new, like texturing…
I’m happy with the bubble jewelry theme, I especially think I’m getting it right in the crown. It’s slow to place them all by hand, but the asymmetrical result makes it worth it, I believe. Left to do: finish crown bubbling, sew up armlet, fix hole by ear, a few more stands of seaweed & pearls on the toga and tail. If there’s time after that I’ll do the arm coral, but I’m not convinced that the character really needs it anymore (Cade wants me to keep it in though).
It’s interesting to see this character evolve. It’s very different than my concept art, but I like it just as well. It’s easier for me to play around with ideas in 3D than to draw them over and over.
